The way Rob Walker says things… there is the raw honesty and dry humor that hits my heart… and leaves it aching… and yet, a smile lingers… because he captures the truth of life. The sadness. But also the humor that helps us process the sadness. This humor in the face of darkness is essential. Rob’s poem “for my late friend” is the perfect example… and the one that drew me in for this Secret Mixter adventure.
Rob’s Shakespeare readings felt aptly suited for accompanying his original poem. When I came upon Rob’s harmonica improv with Martijn’s funky bass foundation… the piece fell together. I hope you like it, Rob. I hope you dig, friends.
